Full disclosure: I know Annie Kelleher. However, I'd read none of her work before now. And while I have to admit the premise seemed a bit of a stretch, I also have to say I read the story in one sitting and will read it again. After hooking us by developing characters that feel like people, rather than types (no mean feat for a short story), Annie puts those characters in a set of circumstance that seem impossible to be resolved -- but beg to be. And after making us realize there's a very canny imagination at work here, Annie makes it impossible to NOT want to know how the story ends. As a writer, I felt myself taking the measure of my own imagination while reading the work of Annie's. Bottom line? It's always an adventure to get whisked away by a great story teller. Annie continues to deliver a treasure box disguised as a book.
Something I think most women would want to do, whether they are a Witch or not. Enjoyable short read for all.
What a delicious surprise this story is! It made me laugh out loud several times. I lost myself in the well-developed characters. I felt like they were old friends.. I could picture each moment, thanks to the author's vivid descriptions and with an intriguing title like this, "Conjuring Johnny Depp" is sure to be a hit! Now, we all just have to wonder if Mr. Depp might read this and enjoy it too.
I love Johnny Depp so of course I had to get this book. It was alittle too short for me but I guess that is what SHORT STORY means. Not enough action with the Deppster...and it involves magic and "witches".

You'll have to read this imaginative and humorous short story to find out. If you want to put a smile in your day, reading this story will do it. Annie Kelleher, a well known author of sci-fi romances has succeeded again with this single.
Conjuring Johnny Depp is a wonderful short story that takes off instantly, soars high and then comes in for the perfect landing. There is a welcome lightness on which the story line glides and carries the reader. It is clear the author, Anne Kelleher, has a deep and, as of yet, unsatisfied desire for the character of the title. How else to explain the warm and respectful way the story unfolds? Kelleher excels at painting strong visuals through her masterful blending of just the right few words. No superfluous prose here! Finishing the light-hearted tale leaves the reader smiling and feeling they have participated in the conjuring. Brava, Anne! Johnny is on his way.
